4D Fetal Ultrasound Scan
Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, it is now possible to take a peek into the womb before delivery and observe what the fetus is doing in a high-resolution, spatial, real-time ultrasonic image. With this procedure, we can get a live video-like broadcast about the intrauterine life of our baby. The recording also shows tiny gestures such as a smile or yawn, facial features and the sex of the baby.
During the examination, the expectant mother is lying on the examination table. The assistant then applies a special gel on the abdomen to help the spread of sound waves and moves the probe back and forth on the abdomen. The ultrasound waves emitted by the probe travel through the abdominal tissues and bounce back from the fetus. These reflected sound waves are picked up by the probe and get converted into moving images by the computer.
