Combined ultrasound examination of four areas
Ultrasound provides an excellent opportunity to make sure our internal organs are healthy. The procedure allows a glimpse into your body without causing any pain or harm. It can also be used to find the root of specific complaints or simply for preventive reasons.
The combined ultrasound package covers the following four areas:
- thyroid gland - Changes in the size and structure of the throid gland may signal a disorder of the metabolic system.
- breasts- The ultrasound examination of the breasts is used to determine the structure, size and position of possible lumps.
- abdomen - The abdominal ultrasound examines the condition of organs in the abdomen and pelvis. The test provides information about the condition of the liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, gallbladder and the main abdominal vessels. In the pelvic area, the bladder and parts of the genital system can be examined, such as the uterus and ovaries in women and the prostate in men.
- carotid arteries - The Doppler ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries in the neck can provide information on possible narrowing of these important blood vessels that supply fresh oxygenated blood from the heart to the brain.
During the examination, the patient is lying on the exam table. The upper clothing should be taken off to free the abdominal and breast area for the procedure. A gel material is applied to the test areas to facilitate the spread of ultrasound waves. During the examination, the areas in question are scanned through by the doctor with the wand of the ultrasound device.
The examination is recommended in case of the following symptoms or complaints
The examination can be performed with unlimited frequency and over the age of 40, it is recommended to have yourself checked at least once a year for health prevention and screening.
