Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound
The abdominal ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive procedure, which produces accurate pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound can detect gallstones, kidney and urinary stones, cysts and other abnormalities in the kidneys, liver, bladder or spleen. The examination may reveal potential tumors and their possible metastases in the organs listed above.
The abdominal ultrasound provides insight into the structure and blood circulation of many internal organs, such as pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and spleen. Ultrasonic examination can draw important conclusions about the condition of the intestinal wall and possible inflammatory processes that induce digestive disorders. In addition, abdominal ultrasound is suitable for the examination of larger abdominal vessels and lymph nodes. For women the uterus and the ovary in the small pelvic, and for men the prostate can also be examined.
During the procedure, the patient will be lying on the examination bed. You might need to take off or lift your shirt up for the time of the examination to free the abdominal area. The doctor will apply a translucent, colorless and odorless gel to the abdomen, which is then scanned through the wand of the ultrasound device. From the reflective sound waves, a real-time black-and-white image is created on the device’s screen, which will be interpreted by the expert radiologist.
The examination is recommended in case of the following symptoms or complaints
- abdominal complaints
- suspected gallstone, kidney stone, pancreatic disease
- suspected tumor
- suspected liver disease
- for prostate examination
- in case of urinary complaints
- it is recommended to repeat on an annual basis over 30

Opening hours: Monday - Friday: 8:00 - 20:00 Saturday: 8:00 - 14:00 It is important to arrive with an empty stomach, so please abstain from eating starting from 6-8 hours before the ultrasound. It is required to have a full bladder for the examination, so we recommend to drink a few glasses of non-carbonated water an hour before your appointment, and only use the bathroom after the test.
The rate includes a single ultrasound examination of the abdomen and the pelvis. The rate is only available in limited amount for the given time period. The cost of any additional tests are not included in the rate. The service provider may modify the appointment in consultation with the patient.
